Native Prairie Speaker Series
Presentation: Reptiles on the Fringe: Movement, Habitat, and Genetic Population Structure of Northern Snakes
Speaker: Dr. Christopher M. Somers, Associate Professor of Biology, University of Regina
Presentation Summary:
In this presentation Dr. Chris Somers will discuss more than 10 years of ecological and genetic research on the unique snake community in southern Saskatchewan. Highlights include comparisons of movement and habitat use by three species of conservation concern, the eastern yellow-bellied racer, bullsnake, and prairie rattlesnake. In addition, basic population genetics and what the data infer about connectivity among snake populations in Saskatchewan will also be discussed.
Biography:
